Tony winner Sam Gold to direct Emma Stone in “Letters From Rosemary”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tony-winning theater director Sam Gold is looking to make the leap to the big screen as he is in negotiations for the Rosemary Kennedy film “Letters From Rosemary”, Variety reveals.

Steve Golin and Doug Wald of Anonymous Content will produce the project written by first-timer Nick Yarborough. Allard Cantor, Jarrod Murray and Richard Arlook are executive producing.

The Black List script tells the heartbreaking story of Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy, first born daughter to Rose Fitzgerald and Joseph Kennedy, Sr., and the eldest sister of John, Robert and Ted Kennedy.

For Anonymous, this marks another film the banner can add to their growing list of hard-hitting dramatic material. In addition to “Spotlight,” Anonymous was behind “The Revenant,” which saw Leonardo DiCaprio take home an Oscar for best leading actor, and Alejandro G. Inarritu for best director. They are also behind TV shows like “Mr. Robot” and “True Detective.”

The film marks Gold’s first major movie having mainly stuck to Broadway and Off-Broadway material over the years. In addition to winning a Tony for directing the 2015 musical “Fun Home,” in the past five years alone Gold has worked with well-known actors including Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal. He will also reunite with Daniel Craig when he directs an Off-Broadway production of “Othello,” also starring David Oyelowo.
