Misfit rolls out hybrid watch for those who don't want to go full smartwatch

PanARMENIAN.Net - Smartwatches aren't for everyone. While they offer some handy features, all those additional taps, swipes and twists can be an unnecessary complication in a world increasingly filled with connectivity.

It's why the wearable market is being crowded with hybrid options filling in the gap between analogue watches and touch-screen options like the Apple Watch Series 2 and Samsung Gear 3.

And just in case you were in need of another option to choose from, fitness tracking company Misfit is expanding into the world of smartwatches-that-aren't-smartwatches, Digital Spy said.

The company has announced the Phase, an analogue watch that also gives users the ability to track basic smartphone notifications and their fitness.

Because of its ability to merge the world of regular watches and smartwatches, the 42mm Phase features a round, analogue face while also being able to count steps, track sleep, resist water and sync up via Bluetooth to your Android or iPhone device. It also has a six month battery life, though this is through a replaceable battery rather than charge.

The move isn’t exactly a surprise, with Misfit being acquired by the Fossil group around a year ago. Whether it will be able to compete with brands like Garmin, Withings and Fossil's own traditional/smart options, though, remains to be seen, Digital Spy said.

Misfit will be offering the Phase in six different colourways, with users able to place it on their wrists from mid-November.
