Isle Of Wight Festival announces 2017 return, reveals dates

PanARMENIAN.Net - Amid rumours that it may be cancelled, Isle Of Wight Festival has announced it will be returning in 2017 – revealing what dates the event will take place, NME reveals.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Isle Of Wight Festival could be cancelled next year, due to an alleged row with the council in which organisers were said to be considering scrapping the event unless it cuts its costs significantly.

A reported showed that Solo Promoters Ltd has asked the local council to waive its hire fee for Seaclose Park in Newport, where the festival is held, while the council is considering reducing it by £42,000.

Now however, Isle Of Wight Festival has confirmed that it will indeed be returning in 2017 – announcing that it will be taking place from 8-11 June 2017. Tickets are on sale from Monday 7 November at 9am, and rumoured acts include The Stone Roses, Guns N’ Roses, Phil Collins, Green Day and others.

The festival originally ran between 1968 and 1970 before being revived in 2002. This year’s festival saw 58,000 attend to see headline sets from Status Quo, Faithless, Stereophonics, The Who, Richard Ashcroft, Queen + Adam Lambert and Ocean Colour Scene. Other past headliners include David Bowie, Foo Fighters, The Killers, Blur, Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones.

Isle Of Wight Festival also recently also won Best Festival at the Live UK Music Business Awards, and Best Family Festival at the Family Traveller Awards.
