iPod marks its 15th birthday

PanARMENIAN.Net - October 23, marked 15 years to the day that Apple CEO co-founder, Steve Jobs, wowed the world by unveiling the original iPod. Just 15 years, Digital Spy said.

Now the portable music player might have been replaced by your phone, but for more than a decade it was the must-have gadget for an entire generation. Actually, scratch that, it was the must-have gadget for EVERY generation, Digital Spy said.

There have been a fair few iPod iterations over the years from Classics to Touches and Nanos to Shuffles, but the original iPod, debuted back in 2001, was the starting point for everything that was to come and changed the portable tech space forever.

The little white box with a mechanical scroll feel boasted 5GB of internal storage - enough for keeping 1,000 songs in your pocket - and marked the beginning of the end for all physical media. It also marked the start of an era of iconic ads.

Those classic dancing silhouette adverts might not have dropped for a couple more years, but this is where it all started, the very first iPod ad.
