Samsung Galaxy S8 “has been delayed by the flaming Note 7”October 24, 2016 - 18:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Just when we thought the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco was over, that self-combusting sod of a smartphone just ruined our next six months of phone-loving ways, Digital Spy said. With Sammy still scratching its head over what exactly caused large swathes of its stylus-packing phablets to randomly burst into flames, it's been suggested that the company's future phones could be pushed back as a result. According to the Wall Street Journal, that means the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 has been delayed. With the S7 follow-on having been expected to launch at MWC 2017 next February, this imminent release could be held off until the Korean manufacturer resolves its struggles to solve the reputation-damaging mystery, Digital Spy said. A 'member of the Galaxy S8 development team' suggested that development of the phone has been held off for at least two weeks. Although not discussing any potential S8 delays, an official Samsung spokesperson added: "We recognised that we did not correctly identify the issue the first time and remain committed to finding the root cause. "Our top priority remains the safety of our customers and retrieving 100% of the Galaxy Note 7 devices in the market." The Samsung Galaxy S8 has been tipped to boast everything from a new, revamped design to a faster processor. It's also suggested that the phone will rock a curved, edge-to-edge display as standard, as well as an improved camera and new TouchWiz OS.
