Apple “struggling to keep up with the iPhone 7 demand”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite Apple's iPhone 7 being a powerhouse option for those in the market for a new smartphone, it didn't provide the substantial overhaul many customers would have hoped for.

That hasn't stopped the demand for both variants of the new handset, though, with company CEO Tim Cook indicating that the company may struggle to meet demand for the rest of 2016, Digital Spy said.

In an investor call discussing the company's fourth quarter earnings, TechCrunch reported that Cook was asked whether or not supply and demand for the iPhone would be "at equilibrium" by the end of this year.

Cook responded by saying: "I believe that on iPhone 7 we will, on iPhone 7 Plus I'm not sure.

"I wouldn't say yes at this point because the underlying demand looks extremely strong on both products, but particularly on the iPhone 7 Plus vs our forecast going into the product launch."

As is the case for every company, this quarter presents a massive opportunity to finish strong. For Apple, who will be looking to take advantage of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 disaster, meeting expectations is even more important than usual, Digital Spy said.

Given the similar phablet nature of the iPhone 7 and the failed Sammy device, it's also possible Apple could nab impatient Android users away, Digital Spy said.

"It's very hard to gauge demand when you're selling everything you're making, so we'll find out more through the quarter but we're confident enough to give you guys guidance that we're returning to growth this quarter, which obviously feels very good for us," Cook continued.

Apple will be hoping it can rebound from the first decline in annual sales for 15 years, with the dedicated MacBook event also set for tomorrow (October 27).
