Mkhitaryan vows to earn own place in Manchester United

PanARMENIAN.Net - Henrikh Mkhitaryan has vowed to fight for his spot in the Manchester United lineup despite not featuring for his new club in six weeks, ESPN FC reports.

The Armenian moved to Old Trafford from from Borussia Dortmund in the summer but has not played for United since the derby defeat to Manchester City on Sept. 10.

Mkhitaryan suffered a minor thigh injury during the September international break, though a source told ESPN FC on Thursday, October 27 that he has been fully fit for a fortnight.

But despite his lack of playing time, the midfielder told The Guardian that he has not given up on fighting for a spot under Mourinho.

"It doesn't matter if they buy me for, I don't know, £38 million or £40m, I am not guaranteed to play the games," Mkhitaryan said.

"So I am trying to do my best during the training to earn this place to play and then we will see, because I don't think I will play every game, depending on the tactical situation, depending on the opponent. But I will do everything to try and help the team."

Mkhitaryan was in Mourinho's initial plans for Wednesday's EFL Cup win over City, according to the Manchester Evening News, but his name was missing when the matchday squad was announced.

His pending exit from Old Trafford after less than six months has been reported in the tabloids this week, though the player has received support from former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
