The European Film Academy announced the nominees for best European animated feature film and best comedy. Look Who's Back from David Wnendt, about Adolf Hitler waking up in modern-day Berlin, Sweden's foreign-language Oscar hopeful A Man Called Ove and Mohamed Hamidi's One Man and His Cow, about an Algerian farmer traveling to the Parisian agricultural farm, are the best European comedy nominees. All three films have been major box-office hits in their home countries. In the best European animated film category the nominees include Claude Barras' My Life as a Zucchini, Switzerland's contender for the best foreign-language film Oscar; Michael Dudok De Wit's nearly silent hand-drawn feature The Red Turtle; and Psiconautas: The Forgotten Children, a Spanish graphic novel adaptation from directors Alberto Vazquez and Pedro Rivero. The animated nominees were chosen by a committee that selected from a list provided by Cartoon, the European Association of Animation Film. Comedy nominees were picked by a five-member European Film Academy committee. European Film Academy members will now vote on the winners, which will be announced at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Wroclaw, Poland, on Dec. 10.
