  New multi-story building in Karabakh to house fallen soldiers' families October 31, 2016 - 18:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan on Monday, October 31 participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of a new apartment building to be constructed for the families of Defense Army officers and the fallen freedom fighters. Sahakyan expressed gratitude to philanthropist Vitaly Grigoryants for participating in the implementation of this initiative, noting the demand for and significance of such projects. Prime Minister Arayik Haroutyunyan and other officials also took part in the event.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
