Chance the Rapper movie “Slice” to be released by A24 in 2017November 1, 2016 - 12:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A24 has announced that it has produced and will release “Slice,” a feature film starring Chance the Rapper that was shot in Chicago this past summer, Variety reports. A24 disclosed the project for the first time on Monday and said it plans to release the film in the second half of 2017. The film was written and directed by Chance’s frequent collaborator Austin Vesely. “Slice” takes place in mysterious city, and centers around an enigmatic outlaw framed for a killing spree that targets unsuspecting pizza delivery boys. Chance, born Chancellor Johnathan Bennett, was raised in Chicago and began gaining prominence following the release of his mixtape “Acid Rap.” Chance has been active in attempting to stop gun violence in Chicago and promoted the “#SaveChicago” campaign in 2014, which sought to halt gun violence over Memorial Day Weekend that year. A24 released “Room” and the documentary “Amy” last year. The company recently released Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight,” which has performed strongly in its initial two weeks of release, and Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey,” starring Shia Labeouf, which won the Jury Prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
