Iggy Pop has recorded 5 new tracks with mystery collaboratorsNovember 1, 2016 - 18:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Iggy Pop has revealed he has returned to the recording studio since he dropped his ‘Post Pop Depression’ album in March, NME reports. The punk icon has recorded five new tracks, all of which appear to be collaborations with other artists. “I’ve made five recordings since then,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “But they were all recordings not where I’m about, ‘Hey, I’ve got something to say!’ No, it was just, people called me up and said, ‘Do you want to do a vocal with me, about this, under this circumstance?’ More like guesting.” He added: “I would prefer to do that for a while. You know, there are people I like. I like the people I’ve recorded with — I can’t tell you who they are! — very much.” The punk icon, who is now 69, had hinted in June that he may never make another album. “I will step back at some point,” he said on an episode of The Graham Norton Show. “Another album would be a big undertaking from an old git like me!” Post Pop Depression, his 17th solo album, was produced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homm. Recorded in secrecy, it featured contributions from Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. He is currently promoting Gimme Danger, a documentary about The Stooges directed by Jim Jarmusch.
