Gaspard Ulliel, Gerard Depardieu to star in “Confins du Monde”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Gaspard Ulliel and Gerard Depardieu are set to star in “Les Confins du Monde”, an Indochina-war set drama directed by Guillaume Nicloux, Variety reports.

“Les Confins du Monde” will mark the third collaboration between Nicloux and Depardieu, who previously starred in “The End” and the Cannes’s Palme d’Or contender “Valley of Love.”

French distribution outfit Ad Vitam will release “Confins” in France while Alma Cinema, the outfit recently launched by Charles Gillibert and Ad Vitam, has taken international sales rights on the movie.

Loosely based on Erwan Bergot’s “Commando Vandenberghe: Le Pirate du Delta,” and written by Jerome Beaujour (“The Nun”) and Nicloux, “Confins” explores the life of a military chief in the 1940s Indochina war and recounts his love affair with a Vietnamese woman.

Shooting will start in April in Vietnam.

“Confins” is produced by Sylvie Pialat’s Les Films du Worso (“Timbuktu,” “Stranger by the Lake”) and Jean-Baptiste Dupont and Cyril Colbeau-Justin’s LGM Cinema (“Me, Myself and Mum”).

Ulliel starred in Xavier Dolan’s “It’s Only the End of the World,” which earned Dolan the grand jury prize at Cannes, and Bertrand Bonello’s “Saint Laurent,” which also competed at Cannes.
