Joey King, Ryan Phillippe horror-thriller “Wish Upon” adds cast

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ki Hong Lee, who stars in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “The Maze Runner” movies, has joined Joey King and Ryan Phillippe in Broad Green’s horror thriller “Wish Upon”, Variety reports.

Principal photography started on Nov. 5 in Toronto. Elisabeth Röhm, Sherilyn Fenn, Alice Lee (“Son Of Zorn”) and newcomers Mitchell Slaggert and Josephine Langford have also been cast.

King stars as a 17-year-old who, 12 years after discovering her mother’s suicide, is being bullied in high school, embarrassed by her manic, hoarder father (Ryan Phillippe) and ignored by her longtime crush. All that changes when her father comes home with an old music box whose inscription promises to grant its owner seven wishes — which seems perfect until the people closest to her begin dying in violent and elaborate ways after each wish.

John Leonetti (“Annabelle”) is directing from a script by Barbara Marshall. Busted Shark’s Sherryl Clark (“Cloverfield”) is producing. Broad Green Pictures’ Gabriel Hammond and Daniel Hammond are executive producers.

Phillippe and Rohm joined the cast on Nov. 1. Mister Smith Entertainment is selling “Wish Upon” to buyers for the first time at this year’s American Film Market.

Broad Green’s upcoming slate includes “Bad Santa 2,” a co-production with Miramax; “Step Sisters,” “Villa Capri” and Terrence Malick’s untitled project starring Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Michael Fassbender.
