Man Utd aim to snap up Ivan Rakitic before Croatian inks new deal

PanARMENIAN.Net - Manchester United could be in the market for Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic if the club aren’t quick to tie him down to a new contract, The Sun reports.

The Croatian is under contract at Camp Nou until 2019 but the Spanish side are looking to reach a new deal by next summer.

Rakitic joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014 and has been one of their most important players since.

He helped Barca to the treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League in his first season, scoring the opening goal in the 3-1 win over Juventus in the European final.

The 28-year-old has already amassed close to 100 Barcelona appearances in a little more than two years.

Just two months ago SunSport reported that Rakitic had snubbed interest from United and Chelsea in favour of staying at Barcelona.

But if Rakitic and Barcelona can’t reach an agreement then United would be first in line.
