The 1975 outline plans to headline Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds fests

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 1975 have outlined their plans to headline both Glastonbury Festival and Reading and Leeds over the next few years, NME reveals.

The band released their second album ‘I Like It When You Fall Asleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It‘ – NME‘s album of the year for 2016 – in February.

In the summer, they played a memorable sunset set at Glastonbury’s Other Stage. Speaking to NME in this week’s magazine, frontman Matt Healy details his plans for the next couple of years, which include releasing new music and headlining the country’s biggest festivals.

“We’ll put something out next year, whether it be a single or an EP, album in 2018,” he said, going on to claim that The 1975 will “headline Reading and Leeds that year, headline Glastonbury the year after or the year after that.”

“I mean, I haven’t got the offers yet,” Healy added. “But
I tell you now, I’m doing it. Who else is going to do it?”

Reflecting back upon aims for their album, Healy said: “We wanted it to feel very cinematic and it is almost the length of a film. We got to the point where we were told it wouldn’t fit on a CD
if we carried on. It was just this really exciting creative bender, and the more ridiculous it got,
the more subversive it got.”

“There’s nothing wrong with the album. Nothing. It’s perfect for me. I could spend another two years on it and maybe make it three per cent better.”

The 1975 return for a series of UK arena shows next month.

Manchester, Arena (December 13) London, The O2 (December 15, 16) Newcastle, Arena (December 17) Glasgow, Hydro (December 19) Bournemouth, International Centre (December 21) Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena (December 22)
