20th Century Fox reveals “Avatar 2” release dateNovember 26, 2016 - 17:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The release date for Avatar 2 has been revealed by 20th Century Fox, NME said. The film studio has let slip that the sequel to the 2009 animated box office hit will arrive in cinemas in December 2018 in an update to its release slate. As Deadline reports, the addition of an untitled film from James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment to Fox’s calendar all but confirms that the film is due out in two year’s time. Filming on the first of four new Avatar films begun in April. At CinemaCon this year, Cameron announced that he plans to release the third, fourth and fifth films in the series in 2020, 2022 and 2023. “We’re making four epic [Avatar] films that stand alone but together form a saga. These movies were designed to be seen in theaters first,” he said, at the time. Fox also added two untitled Marvel movies to its release schedule, due on November 2, 2018 and February 14, 2019. It’s likely that a Deadpool sequel will fill one of these slots, following last week’s news that John Wick co-director David Leitch has signed on for the project. The studio also announced that Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant, the sequel to Prometheus, has been pushed forward from August 2017 to May and shared a sinister new poster for the film.
