Aphex Twin to play Field Day festival 2017November 28, 2016 - 17:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Aphex Twin looks set to deliver a rare live set at Field Day festival in London next year, NME reports. Fliers handed out at London’s Independent Label Market yesterday (November 26) feature the date of next year’s Field Day – June 3, 2017 – and a scratch-card panel which conceals the Aphex Twin logo. Field Day has seemingly confirmed the booking this morning (November 27) by sharing a video of the flier’s scratch-card panel being rubbed away to reveal the Aphex Twin logo. Aphex Twin is the first act announced for next year’s Field Day, which takes place in east London’s Victoria Park on June 3. Meanwhile, Aphex Twin is due to perform in the US for the first time in eight years next month. He will take to the stage at Houston’s Day for Night festival, which takes place on December 17 and 18. Earlier this year, Aphex Twin released a new EP called ‘Cheetah’. It is the third release of new music by Richard D James as Aphex Twin since the Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Syro’ album of 2014. In 2015, he released the single ‘Marchromt30a Edit 2B 96’ as well as the EP ‘Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt 2’. Having waited 13 years since 2001’s ‘Druxqs’ album to release ‘Syro’, James explained why he has become more prolific again in recent years. He said: “Releasing music gets harder and harder. Every time I go to compile it, I give up after a few hours because it’s just so much stuff and then I get lost. But I’m now in this mode where I’m listening and compiling a lot. I think I’ll be putting out a lot of stuff, hopefully.” Related links: Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
