Disney to open an Avatar theme park in 2017

PanARMENIAN.Net - Walt Disney World Florida has confirmed its latest attraction for the new year – Pandora, The World of Avatar, Digital Spy said.

Opening in summer 2017 at Disney's Animal Kingdom, the massive new area will feature boat rides through a bioluminescent rain forest, a giant tree, and Na'vi-themed restaurants.

Bob Chapek, who's the chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts, said that the brand new attraction represents a massive leap forward for the Florida resort.

"I think the thing I'm most excited about right now to experience would be everything in Pandora," he said.

"From the place-making to the two extraordinary attractions that will be in the land – both the Na'vi River Journey as well as Avatar Flight of Passage – these promise to set new high-watermarks for our experiential magic we give our guests."

Bob added that "the journey culminates in an encounter with a Na'vi shaman who has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora and sends positive energy out into the forest through her music".

A new video shows an incredibly lifelike animatronic figure, the Shaman of Songs, offering a welcome to visitors which will be part of The Na'vi River Journey.

Avatar 2 is set for a December 2018 release, with Avatar 3 coming in 2020, Avatar 4 in 2022 and Avatar 5 in 2023.

James Cameron has admitted that the "cadence" of the films' releases is more important than the initial premiere.

"We haven't moved that target yet, but we will if we need to," he told Variety.
