"Moonlight" named best picture at Los Angeles Film Critics Awards

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 2016 Los Angeles Film Critics Awards has announced its winners. Adam Driver is named Best Actor for his role as a poetic bus driver in "Paterson", while the Best Picture Award goes to "Moonlight", which also picks up Best Director for Barry Jenkins, Best Supporting Actor for Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Best Cinematography for James Laxton, AceShowbiz said.

Aside from Driver, other actors honored at the prestigious event are Isabelle Huppert, who wins Best Actress for her roles as Michele Leblanc in "Elle" and as Nathalie Chazeaux in "Things to Come, and Lily Gladstone, who is named Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Certain Women". Additionally, Shirley MacLaine will receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Damien Chazelle's "La La Land" wins Best Music Score for Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, beating "Jackie" which music was scored by Micah Levi. The Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone-starring movie is runner-up in five categories, including Best Picture, Best Director for Chazelle, Best Cinematography for Linus Sandgren, Best Production Design for David Wasco and Best Editing for Tom Cross.

The annual awards dinner will be held on January 14 at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City. The ceremony will be dedicated to late director Curtis Hanson.
