Sigur Ros share mysterious vid that teases huge announcement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sigur Ros have excited fans by sharing a mysterious new video that teases a huge announcement for Monday, December 12, according to NME.

The video shows footage from their stunning 2016 world tour, leading fans to speculate as to whether they will announce more dates for 2017, a live DVD or their long-awaited new album.

The Icelandic post-rock veterans’ last album was 2013’s acclaimed Kveikur. The only taster that fans have had of their upcoming eighth album was the epic single ‘Óveður’.

This will be the band’s first record since keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson left the band in 2013.

Last month saw Sigur Ros unveil a new version of their classic ‘Hoppipolla‘ for the hit BBC nature series ‘Planet Earth II’.

“In Iceland we are blessed with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of wild and untamed places,” said the band in a statement. “But even here, in the very furthest flung corners of Europe’s largest wilderness, the scars of human industry are visible, the plans for future encroachments, by dam and smelter, legion.”

They added: “If lost the Icelandic highlands are not recoverable. Around the world the story is the same; the traffic, literally, going in one direction. Sigur Rós are proud to be associated with Planet Earth II and its all-important mission to hold us rapt in understanding of, and respect for, this endlessly fascinating, utterly surprising and ultimately fragile place we are lucky enough to call home for a short while.”

Earlier this year the band revealed a full 360°-version of the ‘Route One’ project, which allows users to enjoy a rotational view of the Icelandic countryside. The star of the show however, was a horse.
