“Suicide Squad” leads IMDb’s Top 10 Movies of 2016 listDecember 20, 2016 - 12:35 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Warner Bros.’ “Suicide Squad” has taken the title of top 2016 movie on IMDb, based on the number of page views on the film database site, according to Variety. The top five films were all based on comic-book characters. Disney-Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” took the second slot, followed by Warner’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Fox’s “Deadpool,” and Fox’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.” “Captain America: Civil War” is the top box office performer on the list at $1.15 billion worldwide. Despite negative reviews, “Suicide Squad” performed well at the box office with $745 million worldwide following its August release and solidified Margot Robbie as an A-list star for her performance as Harley Quinn. Warner Bros. began its publicity campaign a year earlier at Comic-Con in San Diego. Robbie’s performance was so popular that Warner Bros. announced last week that it’s hired David Ayer to direct the spinoff “Gotham City Sirens,” featuring Robbie’s Harley Quinn and other female DC villains. The top live-action film on the IMDb list was Disney’s “The Jungle Book” at No. 6, followed by the reboot of MGM’s “The Magnificent Seven” and the all-female reboot of “Ghostbusters.” See the full list below. 1.
