HBO pays tribute to legends Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds

PanARMENIAN.Net - HBO is paying tribute to legends Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. The channel has decided to re-air Fisher's "Wishful Drinking" on January 1, 2017 at 9 P.M. on its main channel and premiere Fisher and Reynolds' documentary titled "Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds" some time in early 2017, AceShowbiz said.

Debuted in 2010 on HBO, "Wishful Drinking" chronicles "the intoxicating tale of Fisher's life, combining her raucous one-woman stage performance, interviews with family and friends and archival footage."

According to Geffen Playhouse, where Fisher first workshopped and premiered the adaptation of Fisher's 2008 book of the same title in Los Angeles, the actress was developing a sequel when she died.

Meanwhile, "Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds" tells the relationship between Reynolds and her daughter. "It's a love story," HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins told Variety. "If this was a Hollywood script, no one would believe it. They just loved each other so much. The bond was just unbreakable," she said.

The documentary, which had its world premiere at Cannes in May, is directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens. It is executive produced by Nevins and RatPac's Brett Ratner.

Elsewhere, another network, Logo, just announced that they would re-schedule their programs for Friday and Saturday to honor movie vet Reynolds.

The network will air a 12-episode "Will & Grace" marathon featuring all of Reynolds' guest appearances as the mother of Grace (Debra Messing) on Friday, December 30 starting at 5 P.M. ET. In early Saturday morning, the cable channel will air the episode of "RuPaul's Drag Race" in which Reynolds appeared as a guest judge at 12 P.M. ET, followed by her episodes of "Roseanne" at 1 A.M. ET and "Golden Girls" at 2 A.M. ET.
