"Fargo" hit series season 3 to be set in modern world

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Fargo" executive producer Warren Littlefield shared some details about the upcoming season of the FX series during TCA winter press tour in Pasadena. Littlefield revealed that season 3, which is set in 2010, is not a period piece and it's going to be more in the present than the first season. "[Showrunner] Noah is going to have a lot of fun embracing and commenting on the world today," he said.

When a reporter asked Littlefield about the possibility of season one actors appearing in season three, he answered, "It's a big region." He added, "I think the important thing about year three is intimacy. We're a smaller cast. And it allows us to go deeper with each of these characters. Noah doesn't want to repeat himself."

Littlefield also talked about the Coen brothers, the writers and directors of the original film, who have not been involved with the series so far. He said, "They've always been given open arms. So far it hasn't happened, but how wonderful would that be?" Though the third season has only been filming for four days, early footage was presented at the TCA event, showing glimpses of new characters including two brothers, Emmit and Ray Stussy, who are portrayed by Ewan McGregor. Emmit Stussy is the parking lot king of Minnesota while Ray Stussy is a younger and flabby parole officer.

Talking about adapting Minnesota accent for both roles, McGregor said, "The challenge is to master that accent, which is very, very difficult." The Scottish actor added, "It's a very strange accent to lock into, as a non-American. It's the hardest accent I've ever done. And I've done Dutch once. This is worse."

The third season of "Fargo" is set to premiere sometime in April on FX.
