“Green Lantern Corps” eying Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Tom CruiseJanuary 21, 2017 - 11:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite mixed reviews received by "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" last year, Warner Bros is still optimistic about DC Extended Universe. They are currently planning "Green Lantern Corps" movie, and several names have been shortlisted to play Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal and Armie Hammer are among those names, AceShowbiz said. Reynolds played Hal Jordan in 2011's "Green Lantern". An insider told The Wrap that DC is considering whether Reynolds should make a return. In addition, Reynolds stole viewers' attention with "Deadpool" last year, which is a good reason why he should come back in another superhero flick. Cooper auditioned for 2011's "Green Lantern" before the role went to Reynolds. He also voiced Rocket in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie franchise. Meanwhile, Hammer once trolled and teased fans that he would play certain role, and fans speculated that it was Green Lantern he was talking about. Gyllenhaal has been fan favorite for the role. He expressed his interest in superhero movies last year at SXSW event. "Superhero movies have inspired me," he said. "I remember when I saw 'Thor' I was really inspired. There's a reason for myth. They are so moving and so important.... Sometimes I'm in a scene playing what people might interpret as a sociopath and I'm thinking of 'Thor'." Cruise is an interesting choice because he never appeared in any superhero movies before, although he was once approached for Iron Man role when the project was at a different studio, AceShowbiz said. He is currently filming "The Mummy" reboot and developing "Mission: Impossible 6". "Green Lantern Corps" will be written by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes. DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will executive produce. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
