Armenia's Aronian defeats Dutch grandmaster at Tata Steel round 8

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian defeated Anish Giri of the Netherlands in the eighth round of Tata Steel Masters tournament, currently underway in the Dutch city of Wijk aan Zee.

In round seven, the Armenian had lost to Sergey Karjakin of Russia.

As of Sunday, January 22, Aronian has 4,5 points and shares the 4-7th spots with world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Karjakin and Baskaran Adhiban (India). Meanwhile, Wesley So of the United states tops the rankings with 5,5 points and is followed by Ukrainian grandmaster Pavel Eljanov and China's Wei Yi with five points each.
