Foals to headline London’s Citadel Festival

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foals are to headline London’s Citadel Festival this summer, NME reports.

Their Citadel set at Victoria Park on July 17 will be a UK festival exclusive from the Oxford five-piece. Other acts performing at Citadel 2017 will be announced at a later date.

Foals are also confirmed to be playing Spain’s huge Benicassim festival, which runs from July 13-16, shortly before Citadel Festival takes place.

The band’s return to the road suggests that they may be gearing up to test or release new material in 2017 – despite telling NME that they planned to ‘take a break’ before releasing the follow-up to 2015’s ‘What Went Down’.

“I want us to break the chains of familiarity and to have that question mark in the room again,” said frontman Yannis Philippakis. “I think that it’ll be beneficial for the band just to be nervous about being in the room together again. I think we need to rock our own boat.”

The band previously revealed that they planned to head back into the studio in Hong Kong in winter 2016.

Writing on Instagram last month, Foals said: “It’s actually the end of the tour, time to batten down the hatches and go off the radar for a while. Thanks so much to everybody that worked on this tour, and also thanks to all of you that came along and gave us the good time vibes, couldn’t do it without you. See you soonish.”
