Adam Scott - Craig Robinson comedy “Ghosted” ordered to pilot at Fox

PanARMENIAN.Net - Adam Scott and Craig Robinson are inching closer to returning to broadcast television.

Fox on Thursday, January 26 has handed out a pilot order to Ghosted, a single-camera comedy starring the Parks and Recreation and The Office graduates, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The single-camera comedy landed at Fox in August with a hefty pilot-production commitment. Ghosted is described as a comedic take on The X-Files and centers on a cynical skeptic (The Office's Robinson), and a genius “true believer” in the paranormal (Parks and Rec's Scott) who are recruited by The Bureau Underground to look into the rampant “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles — all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.

Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Robinson, Scott and his wife/producing partner Naomi Scott, as well as 3 Arts' Mark Schulman and Oly Obst. The project hails from 20th Century Fox Television, 3 Arts and the Scotts' Getting Rad Productions. Kevin Etten (Workaholics, Desperate Housewives) also will exec produce and serve as showrunner.

The comedy reunites Scott and Robinson, who previously starred together in 2015's Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Should the project move to series, it would mark Scott's return to broadcast comedy following his memorable role on NBC's Parks and Recreation. (He next has a dramatic turn in HBO's Big Little Lies.) Robinson, meanwhile, hosts Spike's Caraoke Showdown series and last starred on NBC's short-lived Mr. Robinson in addition to an arc on USA Network's Mr. Robot and multiple guest spots on Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

This marks Fox's third comedy pilot order of the season, joining Liz Meriwether's (New Girl) female-driven Antarctica project Thin Ice and the high-concept comedy Linda From HR, the latter of which scored a cast-contingent order. All three comedies are produced in-house at 20th Century Fox TV and are single-camera offerings. (Fox also has two dramas in the works so far this season, both produced at 20th as the network continues to vertically align its programming.)
