Ethan Hawke, Noomi Rapace to star in

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace will star in thriller "Stockholm". The movie will be helmed and written by Robert Budreau, while Scott Aversano and Will Russell-Shapiro serve as executive producers. International sales are handled by Sierra/Affinity, which will offer it to buyers at the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival, AceShowbiz said.

"Stockholm" is inspired by a true criminal event that happened more than four decades ago, which was documented in Daniel Lang's New Yorker article. In 1973, a bank heist occurred in Stockholm, and the hostages, who became bonded with the robbers, eventually turned against authorities. The psychological phrase "Stockholm's syndrome" emerged later on.

" 'Stockholm' will offer moviegoers a raw glimpse into intense events that transpired over four decades ago coining a psychological condition that still intrigues the world today," said Jonathan Kier, the president of international sales and distribution of Sierra/Affinity. "With Robert's creative direction coupled with Ethan and Noomi's tremendous talents, we are certain audiences around the globe will be captivated by this thrilling true story."

Hawke, who was nominated for Oscar for his role in "Boyhood", previously teamed up with Budreau in the Chet Baker biopic "Born to be Blue". Rapace, meanwhile, portrayed Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" movie trilogy, which was based on Stieg Larsson's crime novels.

There's still no word on the characters portrayed by Hawke and Rapace, but the movie is scheduled to start its production in April.
