“Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown joins “Godzilla 2”

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Stranger Things” breakout Millie Bobby Brown has closed a deal to star in Legendary’s “Godzilla: King of Monsters”, the next installment in the monster movie franchise, Variety reports.

“Krampus” helmer Michael Dougherty is directing and wrote the script with Zach Shields. Dougherty was initially hired to run the “Godzilla” universe writing room.

Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elizabeth Olsen starred in Gareth Edwards’ 2014 reboot, but their involvement in the sequel is unknown at this time.

Alex Garcia will oversee the project for Legendary.

“Godzilla: King of Monsters” is currently dated for Mar. 22, 2019, with “Godzilla vs. Kong” slated for May 29, 2020.

Legendary and Warner Bros. annouced in late 2015 that all future “King Kong” and “Godzilla” films would be developed by Legendary and distributed by Warner Bros., starting with “Kong: Skull Island” in March. Legendary currently holds a distribution deal with Universal, but in order to re-team Godzilla and King Kong, the studio returned the rights to WB.

Brown stars in Netflix’s Golden Globe-nominated series “Stranger Things.” She is up for a Screen Actors Guild Award this Sunday, Jan. 29 for her portrayal of Eleven. “Stranger Things” Season 2 is expected to debut on the streaming site this year.
