Armenia’s ruling Republican Party prioritizes security: deputy chairman

PanARMENIAN.Net - The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is placing the emphasis on the issue of security ahead of the parliamentary elections set to be held on April 2 this year, RPA deputy chairman Armen Ashotyan told reporters.

“The upcoming parliamentary elections will be competitive,” Ashotyan said.

“This can be explained not only by the involvement of various political forces, but also by the wide ideological horizon that the nominated political parties offer.”

“The nomination of communists, ultra liberals, democrats and a host of other groups gives voters the opportunity to choose whatever party or ideology they favor,” he added.

“The analysis of various slogans shows that the political forces have tried to put their own ambitions in line with the society’s expectations. The RPA is probably the only party to prioritize the issue of security above all else.”

According to Ashotyan, the security factor is one of the most important issues currently facing the region.

The entire Armenia, the society, each citizen irrespective of their political position need security and progress, he said.
