The Chainsmokers unveil heartbreaking ballad “The One” (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Chainsmokers slows things down on a new track titled "The One", which was released on Monday, March 27. The heartbreaking ballad is the first cut from the duo's much-anticipated album "Memories...Do Not Open", which is expected to hit the shelves next month, AceShowbiz reports.

For the release of "The One", Snapchat created a special filter that the duo promoted on Twitter. "This is cool! 'THE ONE' OUT NOW," so they wrote across a clip featuring the group's Alex Pall sporting a pair or rounded glasses with sky views on its lenses. Produced by Jordan "DJ Swivel" Young and The Chainsmokers, the nearly-three-minute song finds the group's Andrew Taggart taking lead vocals with Emily Warren handling subtle background vocals.

"The One" starts with Warren's haunting vocals, before a mournful piano melody comes in. Taggart talks about a toxic relationship on the chorus, singing, "Down and down we go/ We'll torch this place we know/ Before one of us takes a chance/ And breaks this, I won't be the one/ No, I won't be the one." While the first two verses of the track are backed only by piano, the song ends with the group's signature dance beat.

In addition to "The One", "Memories...Do Not Open" is set to feature the duo's recently-released singles including "Paris" and "Something Just Like This" featuring Coldplay. The upcoming album serves as the follow-up to their 2016 EP "Collage", which features their chart-topping single "Closer" featuring Halsey.
