Armenia’s basketball team to participate in World Cup qualifiers

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian men's national basketball team will fight to qualify for the FIBA World Cup under the guidance of new coach Niksa Bavcevic, secretary general of the national federation Artur Nazaryan said on Tuesday, March 28.

He noted that Bavcevic was chosen as coach given his experience.

“Bavcevic has extensive experience, both at the club level and at the national team level.

“Suffice it to say that the Croatian youth team became European champions under his leadership.”

The coach is familiar with Armenian basketball,” Nazaryan added.

The secretary general said that Bavcevic will get acquainted with basketball players in the summer. In July, the national team will start preparing for the qualifying stage of the World Cup.

At the qualifying stage, which will start on August 2, Bosnia, Slovakia and Sweden will compete against Armenia.
