“Alien: Covenant” sequel to start filming “within 14 months”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director Ridley Scott has revealed that he will make more "Alien" movies after "Alien: Covenant" and it seems like "Covenant" sequel will soon kick off its production. According to Scott, the sequel will begin filming next year, AceShowbiz said.

"We're writing [a sequel] now, as we speak. I'll be filming that within 14 months," says Scott to IGN.

Regarding the sequel's title, Scott seemingly suggested last March that the sequel would be titled "Awakening". However, in the interview with IGN, Scott refers to Neill Blomkamp's scrapped "Alien 5" as "Awakening". It remains to be seen whether Scott will officially use "Awakening" as the title of "Covenant" sequel.

While people wish the "Alien 5" would come true, Scott assures that the project is dead, despite his attempt to save it. "They wanted to do 'Alien', er, 'Awakening'-Neill Blomkamp," explains Scott. "I said fine. I was going to be the producer. If I could have, I would have. Except I do question-why have both [Blomkamp's 'Alien' and Scott's 'Alien'] out there? It seems like shooting your big toe off-it doesn't make sense," Scott adds.

He later explains why the project is scrapped. "But they didn't go forward with it, Fox, so I just kind of kept out of it. I mean, I'd literally ignited this thing to bring it off the ground again, because it was lying there dormant on a shelf. I had this thing to bring it back up-but here we are," says Scott.

In the meantime, we can see Scott's work in the upcoming "Alien: Covenant". The movie starring Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo and Noomi Rapace will hit U.S. theaters on May 19.
