Phil Lord and Chris Miller depart Han Solo movie, may helm “The Flash”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Han Solo film is undergoing a major reshuffle in the midst of production. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are leaving the project due to creative differences, Lucasfilm has announced. No new director is announced, but the movie is still set for a May 25, 2018 release, AceShowbiz said.

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in a statement on Tuesday, June 20, "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we've decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon."

Lord and Miller added, "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliche is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

Filming on the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II began on February 20. Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Ian Kenny, Michael K. Williams and Joonas Suotamo are in the cast. Re-shoots, which have long been planned, are scheduled to take place this summer, though it's unclear how much of the movie will be reshot.

Words are Lord and Miller are already eying another big movie as their next directing gig. The filmmaking duo behind "The Lego Movie" has met with DC Films during the production hiatus of the Han Solo spin-off to talk about the possibility of directing "The Flash", TheWrap reports.

"The Flash" production has been put on hold since director Rick Famuyiwa exited the project in October 2016. Robert Zemeckis was previously reported as a frontrunner to direct the superhero movie. Ezra Miller is on board to play the titular character.
