Armenia president says fully trusts current government, PM KarapetyanJune 29, 2017 - 12:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday, June 29 said that the current staff of the government, headed by prime minister Karen Karapetyan, enjoys the full confidence of himself and his political team. “In the parliamentary elections, the Republican Party received the people’s votes to continue its work,” Sargsyan told a government session. “The mandate we received was enough for us to form a government with the Republican resources only. But we decided to continue with the previously-established format, creating a government with the Armenian Revolutionary Federation - Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD), a government capable of implementing all of our tasks.” The team, according to the president, will be united not only in the government and the National Assembly, but also in regional government bodies. The Armenian opposition has been insisting on some clarity about the position of the prime minister after Sargsyan’s term as president ends in 2018. Various RPA officials have said Karapetyan will continue heading the cabinet, but the opposition has expressed doubts that Sargsyan will take the helm of the government instead.
