Shia LaBeouf as tennis star in “Borg vs McEnroe” trailer (video) July 4, 2017 - 11:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Shia LaBeouf has transformed into tennis star John McEnroe for his latest film Borg vs McEnroe and it's pretty uncanny, Digital Spy sad. He's appearing opposite Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason, who has been cast as McEnroe's tennis nemesis Björn Borg in the film which chronicles the pair's epic rivalry throughout the '80s. Shia's sporting John's famous curly hair and fetching headband combo, and even yells his famous catchphrase in the trailer. The real John "you can NOT be serious" McEnroe has previously slammed the biopic, as neither player had any input in the film. "I don't know if they are planning on doing the whole movie without input or any type of arrangement from me or Bjorn," McEnroe explained in an interview last year. "I haven't seen anything, and they've already started the movie." He was also pessimistic about the chances of the film being any good, as all tennis movies are awful apparently, even the ones he's been in himself. "I've never seen a good tennis movie – they all were terrible," he concluded. "I've been in a couple of them, and it was embarrassing to me how bad they were. But sometimes you have to hope for the best." It's not the only tennis film trying to break that tradition in 2017 – Battle of the Sexes, about the rivalry between Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell), will also arrive this summer. Borg vs McEnroe will be released later this year. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
