PanARMENIAN.Net - The upcoming "Godzilla" sequel may feature a weapon that was used in the original 1954 film. "Godzilla: King of Monsters" director Mike Dougherty has taken to his Twitter account to share a black-and-white photo featuring the infamous Oxygen Destroyer, AceShowbiz said.

The mass destructive weapon was used by Dr. Serizawa to destroy Godzilla in the Ishiro Oda-directed sci-fi film. The heavy device composed of a metal capsule with a glass central chamber is able to remove oxygen from any body or water it is placed in.

Dougherty shares the photo to mark the 41st day of filming on the next "Godzilla" film. But the helmer doesn't provide any details about what role the weapon might have in the upcoming movie, which has Ken Watanabe taking on the role of Dr. Serizawa.

The film is set for a March 22, 2019 release in U.S. theaters. Should the weapon be used to destroy the King of Monsters in the sequel, he will definitely be resurrected as he is set to fight a Kong in 2020's "Godzilla vs. Kong".

Godzilla will face off against Mothra, Rodan and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah in the sequel, which Dougherty is directing from a script he co-wrote with Zach Shields. Also starring in the movie are Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Zhang Ziyi and Charles Dance among others.
