Armenia-EU talks proceed 'the way they should,' EU envoy says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Preparations for signing the EU-Armenia framework agreement are proceeding naturally, EU ambassador to the country said on Wednesday, September 6, Panorama.am reports

"Based on all the talks I've had, everything is the way it should be," Piotr Switalsky said.

"People work hard to have the deal signed in November. We do our best to seal the agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels."

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence in late August that the agreement will be signed very soon. According to him, the country was negotiating with both the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union back in 2013. "But what could we do when the EU said the deal with the EEU will hamper the one with Europe?" Sargsyan added.

After negotiating the Association Agreement with the EU for more than three years, Armenia ultimately chose to join the Eurasian Economic Union.
