Russian presence in Armenia "a key restricting factor in the region"

Russian presence in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 102nd Russian military base deployed in Armenia has many times proved its readiness and conscientious approach toward solving issues it is facing, Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said at a Russian embassy reception on Day of Homeland’s Defender on Thursday, February 21.

“I have said many times that the Russian presence in the Collective Security Caucasian region is an important restricting factor for possible resumption of military activities and for the promotion of regional security and stability,” Tonoyan said.

In this pre-context, Tonoyan stressed the importance of the implementation of bilateral inter-state agreements aimed at the creation of a joint defense system in the Collective security Caucasian region and joint Armenian-Russian armed troops.
