Alexis Ohanian's daughter becomes youngest owner of pro sports team

PanARMENIAN.Net - The two-year-old daughter of Reddit co-founder, Armenian-American entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian has become the the youngest owner of a pro sports team, GQ Australia reports.

Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. is already following in the footsteps of her mother, tennis legend Serena Williams, by working her way into the sports world. Williams also joined her daughter to become part owners of a new Los Angeles-based women’s soccer team, currently dubbed Angel City.

According to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the team is actually led by none other than Hollywood star and Academy Award winner, Natalie Portman. The “majority woman-founded group” also counts Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, and Uzo Aduba as members of its founding investor group. According to reports from Harper’s Bazaar, Williams’s husband, Ohanian, “also played a major role in the initial fundraising for the team.”

As Ohanian said in a statement, “I am proud to be a part of this wonderful group working to bring a women’s professional football club to Los Angeles. Chiefly, because I’m a fan of the game, but also because I believe there is massive potential for the sport and it’s been undervalued by too many people for far too long.”

He went on to add, “As someone who spends hours kicking around a football with my two-year-old daughter, I want her to have a front row seat to this revolution. I’m personally investing on behalf of my family because creating more opportunities in women’s sports is important to my wife and me, and we want to be a part of making a better future for our daughter.”
