"Armenia has no oil reserves, but we have the Diaspora" – Defense Ministry

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan has invited the Diaspora to join forces and help overcome the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh.

"We will resist the evil and terrorism that threaten the world. We do not have oil and gas reserves, but we have young people who do not spare their lives for their homeland. We have no sea, but we have a heroic nation that defends the rear. And finally, unlike the enemy, there aren't 10 million residents in our country, but there are 10 million Armenians all over the world – we have the Diaspora," Hovhannisyan said in a video message on Thursday, October 8.

He said he is receiving thousands of letters from Armenians all over the world every day, wondering “how to help, what to send”.

Hovhannisyan then called on Armenians all over the world to donate money through a fundraising campaign launched by Hayastan All Armenian Fund, while encouraging folks from the United States to join the campaign via armeniafund.org.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
