Karabakh civilian killed, two others wounded in Azeri missile attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - One civilian was killed and two others were wounded in Avetaranots village as a result of Azerbaijani missile attacks on Monday, October 26, the Human Rights Defender of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) reveals.

The Ombudsman's office received information that the Azerbaijani side, violating the humanitarian truce agreed on October 25, carried on with its missile strikes on the civilian settlements of Artsakh.

"Throughout the day, a number of settlements were targeted, including the village of Avetaranots in Askeran region, where a civilian named Gevorg Hambardzumyan, was killed; and two civilians, Henrikh Adamyan and Andrey Hambardzumyan, were wounded in fire from a Smerch multiple rocket launcher," the Human Rights Defender's office said.

Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed earlier that a humanitarian ceasefire reached on October 10 and October 17 will take effect in the morning of October 26, according to a statement released by the Governments of the United States, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on Sunday. Azerbaijan, however, has violated the ceasefire, shelling both Armenian positions and the town of Martuni in Karabakh.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
