Cavanaugh։ Karabakh conflict not resolved, key issues remain

PanARMENIAN.Net - Retired American Ambassador and former peace mediator Carey Cavanaugh believes the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is not resolved, key issues remain.

"Positive aspect of trilateral meeting: [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is committed to working on Karabakh," Cavanaugh tweeted after a trilateral meeting between the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in Moscow on January 11.

"Troubling aspect: [Azeri President Ilham] Aliyev acting like the conflict's resolved; it's not, key issues remain. Comprehensive settlement needed to establish foundation for lasting peace and prosperity."

A joint statement was issued following the trilateral meeting held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Putin and Aliyev in Moscow. The statement is set to pave the way for unblocking transport and economic communications in the region.
