Georgian Airways offering flights to Moscow via Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian Airways is operating charter flights from Tbilisi to Moscow via Yerevan for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, reports about it with reference to the airline.

Georgia suspended air traffic with all countries months ago due to the coronavirus pandemic. Restrictions on scheduled international flights are valid in the country until January 31, 2021. Whether these measures will be extended depends on the epidemiological situation.

"The carrier has begun to operate several flights to Moscow via Yerevan, but this is a temporary measure connected with the New Year holidays," RIA Novosti quoted the company as saying.

In order to get to Georgia from Russia at the moment, travelers need to have Georgian citizenship, a residence permit or be the spouse of a citizen of Georgia.

Direct flights between Georgia and Russia were suspended back in 2019, which prompted companies to fly through transit cities, such as Yerevan or Istanbul.
