Armenia opposition proposes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Opposition Bright Armenia leader Edmon Marukyan has made a proposal to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a way out of the political crisis in the country, maintaining that it "is the best way" to go.

In a Facebook live on Sunday, February 28, Marukyan weighed in on the the situation in Armenia created after Pashinyan's decision to dismiss the chief of Army General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, and said Pashinyan should first of all take back the proposal to sack Gasparyan sent to the President of the country as a first step.

According to Marukyan, theauthorities should "let the army heal" and not dismiss any member of the top military brass for now.

In return, the opposition lawmaker promised to sign a memorandum, pledging not to nominate or vote for another candidate for Prime Minister, so that Pashinyan resigns and takes the country to snap elections.

Marukyan believes the new government created after the elections will then decide whether they want to work with the current leaders of the General Staff or not.

Armenia is facing a serious political crisis after the country's top military brass demanded Pashinyan's resignation. The PM, however claimed, however, that he had already dismissed the chief of the Army General Staff.
