Armenia appoints Marcos Pizzelli as football envoy in South America

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former midfielder of Armenian national team Marcos Pizzelli will represent the country's football federation in South America, sports authorities said Friday, March 5.

According to information published by the Federation, Pizzelli has expressed gratitude for being trusted with the role,

"My function will be to represent the FFA during various events. In addition, my idea is to try to be as close to the Armenian diaspora in South America as possible. Probably, I will try to find players of Armenian origin, who will be able to join the National Team in the nearest future," the midfielder said.

"I am confident, that the Football Federation of Armenia will leave room for development and research. From my side, I will do everything to help Armenian football”.

FFA president Armen Melikbekyan said it is important for the Federation to make sure that former national squad players are involved in Armenian football after retirement.

"South America is a very important region due to the major Armenian presence there and the popularity of football," Melikbekyan added.

Former Armenia forward Yura Movsisyan was earlier named the FFA ambassador to North America.
