Armenians win FIDE University Online Chess Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hayk Martirosyan and Anna Sargsyan, both representing Armenia, were named the winners of the First FIDE World University Online Chess Championships.

Competing in the men's group, Martirosyan did not suffer a single defeat throughout the tournament and, having gained 5.5 points out of 7 possible, became the winner of the event with additional points.

Sargsyan, meanwhile, scored 6 points in 7 rounds of the women's championship to top the standings.

Armenia's current champion Hovhannes Gabuzyan to participated in the tournament to take the 6th place.

FIDE World University Individual Online Rapid Championship will be held on March 20-21, with the participation of more than two dozen Armenian chess players.
