French Senate delegation honors memory of Armenian Genocide victimsApril 24, 2021 - 13:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A French delegation headed by Senate President Gérard Larcher paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial in Yerevan on April 24. Larcher visited the monument with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan and laid a wreath at the memorial. French ambassador to Yerevan revealed on social media that another wreath in the name of President Emmanuel Macron was laid by the Secretary of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, who is representing Macron at the commemorative events. Macron earlier sent a letter to President Armen Sarkissian on the 106th anniversary of the Genocide, writing that his thoughts go out to Armenia. On April 24, 1915, a large group of Armenian intellectuals was rounded up and assassinated in Constantinople by the Ottoman government. Today, on April 24, Armenians worldwide are commemorating the 106th anniversary of the Genocide which continued until 1923. Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians as Genocide. Turkey denies to this day.
