Armenia's Haik Martirosyan advances to FIDE World Cup R5

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Haik Martirosyan held Ante Brkic of Croatia to a draw in their second game of Round 4 on Friday, July 23 and advanced to the next round of the World Cup, FIDE reports.

"Great run for the Armenian who just turned 21," FIDE tweeted.

The young Armenian grandmaster earlier defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Azerbaijan's top player and the world No. 6, to reach Round 4 of the World Cup.
