One Armenian soldier wounded as Azeris violate ceasefire again

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani troops opened fire on Armenian positions in Gegharkunik province at around 8:40am on Thursday, July 29, despite having agreed to a ceasefire a day earlier, the Defense Ministry reports.

After a short shootout, the Armenian servicemen took suppressive measures to silence the Azerbaijani military. One Armenian serviceman was wounded in the provocation.

As of 9:30 am, the situation on the border has calmed down, the Ministry said.

The Azerbaijanis also fired on the Armenian positions at night, but were silenced again.

In the wee hours of July 28, the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces, which had infiltrated the sovereign territory of Armenia since May 12, attacked the Armenian positions located in the north-eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, triggering local battles. Three Armenian troops were killed, five others were wounded in the process, the Defense Ministry said, adding that the Azerbaijani forces have been thwarted back to their positions.
